Hala Host Protection
Host Protection — full policy
Hala's Host Protection programme covers losses caused by a verified guest during a confirmed booking. This page is the authoritative policy reference — every claim is adjudicated against the rules below.
The headline
Up to SAR 5,000 per claim. Up to 6 claims per host per year. File within 48 hours of checkout, with photo / video / receipt evidence. Hala adjudicates within 7 working days.
What's covered — property damage
Damage caused by the guest (or someone they invited during the stay) to the unit itself or its contents. Includes furniture, electronics, fittings, appliances. Includes accidental damage from cooking, smoking, parties, pets — provided the booking did not explicitly disallow those activities.
What's covered — incidental theft
Theft of items inside the unit, committed by the guest or someone they invited during the stay. A police report (شرطة الواقعة) is required for theft claims over SAR 1,000.
Compensation cap
Maximum SAR 5,000 per claim. Maximum 6 claims per host per calendar year. Claims above SAR 5,000 are not topped up — book additional commercial insurance separately if you carry higher-value contents.
Claim window & evidence
File within 48 hours of the guest's scheduled checkout. Evidence required:
• Before / after photos (or video) of the damaged item or area
• Original receipt or repair quote for damaged items
• Police report for theft claims over SAR 1,000
Hala may request the guest's response before adjudicating. Adjudication within 7 working days of complete submission.
Eligibility — host conditions
To be eligible, the host must:
• Hold a valid MoT licence at the time of the stay
• Have completed KYC and been APPROVED
• Have published the unit through Hala (not as a host-arranged off-platform booking)
• Be in good standing — no open disputes or unpaid platform fees
What's not covered
• Normal wear and tear — paint chips, fabric fading, small scratches
• Pre-existing damage not photographed before the stay
• Damage during off-platform bookings
• Loss of cash or jewellery left in the unit
• Acts of nature (flood, earthquake) — those are commercial insurance territory
• Damage to the building's shared areas (lobby, corridors, lifts) — those are the building's responsibility, not Hala's
